The Bay of Naples and the Amalfi Coast
On top of being the home of the Pizza, the city is also heralded for its art, music, history, culture, and architecture. Within the Bay of Naples are the three islands of Procida, Ischia, and Capri.
All stunning in their own way, and a charter would allow you to experience them all. Procida, the smallest of the three is the closest to Napoli, and yet the most rustic. It has an incredibly quaint harbor and with it’s flourishing gardens and fragrant lemon and orange groves it never fails to bewitch any one who visits.
It’s closest neighbour, Ischia is known as the green island. Due to volcanic activity the island is home to many thermal springs making for quite wonderful health and beauty treatment, and its sandy beaches and harbours make it a memorable stop. Across the bay is the infamous island of Capri. It’s natural beauty is remarkable with dolomite cliffs seeming to fall into the sea with numerous caves and reefs.
As far back as the 1800’s there has been an influx of people, including the wealthy, writers, painters, exiles. This has helped it to become the multi-facetted, multi-lingual, cosmopolitan colony that made the name Capri famous and established the island’s legend.
The Amalfi Coast itself stretches from Sorrento to Salerno and is a place of mesmerizing beauty.
The three main towns of Amalfi, Positano and Ravello are all truly magnificent, even more so when visiting from the sea. All are a wonder of Italian architecture with Arabic and even oriental twists giving rare variety.
Buildings seem to cling to steep cliffs that leap out of the crystal blue sparkling ocean. The area has been inspiration to artist, writer and poets for hundreds of years. To visit such places on a yacht is an unrivalled humbling experience and one never forgotten.
